Tick tock!

So Ben has gone into "holiday training". He's riding his bike loads, swimming during his lunch breaks, and wearing in his new skateboard like a bucketful of gnar. Also, he is doing loads of writing, which is spectacular - I think that me being away most nights selling t-shirts helps.

Yes, it's me, the disappointment you've all been waiting for. I'm 8 songs behind, the band never played in Bathurst (and now the Buckleys have moved to Scone, so the challenge is kind of moot anyway), schools were harder things to infiltrate than first thought, I still don't have my licence, and I somehow never made it on TV.

I guess priorities changed. I still blame the pure evil that was my former workplace for this spiral of desperation and general chaos, although I wholeheartedly know that leaving was the best decision I could have made. I also blame the car for shaking any faith I had in my driving abilities and for taking all our money. Putting more energy back into the band was another factor that veered me off course for a while and took any spare change left behind the couch.

BUT ALL IS NOT LOST! There are still 62 days left. That's two whole months! That's more than 8 weeks! Loads of time...

I am still hoping to:
- Complete the Coast Track. In winter. It's going to be awful and I might get cold and cry. But it will also be a bit beautiful and maybe we will sit around a bonfire and roast marshmallows and that would be nice.
- Finish the harbour walks. According to Wikipedia, "the perimeter of the estuary is 317kms". Stupid giant harbour! If this was any other harbour I'd have seen it all by now!
- Get my break dance skillz.
- Finish my scrapbook.
- Do my Yeats artwork (I was originally planning to use a digital medium, but then I remembered I suck at that. I'm going old skool and buying me a canvas).
- Cook Heath a lasagne.

And the fundraising ball (or at least, as close as I can get to it)!! All I'm saying is, keep Friday 22nd July free, people. What better way to cap off a whole year than by celebrating the hell out of it for a good cause?

As for the in-betweens, well, we'll see how we get on. I can't afford to take a weekend trail ride, but I will take another horseriding lesson. A couple of times, it was almost like the band nearly was about to consider making a video clip. Now it's really happening, but it won't be finished in time to count. We'll have finished filming it, but editing... not so much. I've not joined a local theatre group and performed in a Shakespearean play - but I have been employed at Australia's most well regarded Shakespeare company. I can't help but think that must count for something. It has been great to be reminded of how much I dig the Bard.

I'm now secure in the knowledge that I'm employed at least until we leave for the holiday, so I can relax a little and get to meditating on all this again. Or just plain meditating.

Summary - Month 7

The 22nd, again? I realise I didn't even get around to writing a summary last month. That means I should have made loads of progress since the last one of these, right? Right?

#1 – The Fundraising Ball. There is going to be one, and it is. hella. exciting. There is much yet to be organised and you will be informed closer to the date. I'm looking forward to it. A lot.

#2 – The Other Fundraiser. See #1.

#3 – Laughing Strangers. Ok, so I've only made 7 people laugh. I've also made a lot of people not laugh. A far larger number. So don't think I'm not trying.

#4 – i. Mediation. Since I became unemployed, I'm not being as strict with my routine as I used to - which is to say, taking my 10 minutes at 11o'clock every morning like a regularly scheduled dose of Chill The Fuck Out. Now that I'm more chilled and a whole lot less when-did-this-pit-of-despair-become-my-life, I have the flexibility to meditate as it comes to me. Audio has become my method of choice again after a couple of months being 'mindful'.

ii. Song Per Month. Although I'm still behind, I'm getting into the swing of creativity and this feels more achievable. You'll have to ignore the fact that I just spent two days trying to complete a song and coming up with nothing more than a few lines of gibberish. It was a total mindfart. It happens.

iv. 26km Coast Track. I was devastated when we had to cancel this. I think we've rescheduled it for the first weekend in May (which ridiculously was the first weekend available). I hope we don't freeze.

#5 – Songs About Challenges. I'm not quite as up to date with these as with the 'regular' songs. In fact I'm three months behind. But that's ok. I'll fudge them if I have to.

#6 – Bathurst. ARGH. The band is not in a good position for interstate travel just now. We figured out there is actually no possible time we can pull this off - March and April are out due to weddings and general mayhem, May has a small window which is unlikely to be available on all 5 calendars, and June/July is out due to our drummer going on an American pilgrimage. I am going to have to find a way to adjust this and make an agreement with Jason, who set the challenge. That, or he perhaps settles for me going and playing on my own, but I'm not sure that really counts.

#7 – Gospel. I hope we get to perform again soon.

#8 – Children’s Hospital. I am resigning myself to this being far more difficult than suspected. The original challenge was to volunteer with a school reading group
, with the children's hospital being a secondary option should the first not work out. With a 9 to 5 job getting in the way of the first choice, maybe I can revert on this.

#9 – Harbour Walks. I've made it as far as Taronga Zoo. Perhaps a quarter of the way. I plan to sucker punch a huge chunk of this next week with Ben's parents... but I still don't own any hiking boots.

#10 – Driving. My heart sinks when I think of this challenge. All is not lost, but I feel like so much could have been gained by now should I have not made the stupid decision that I did. Ben doesn't like it when I get down on the car so I will try not to bitch about it any more. Needless to say, I still can't drive.

#11 – Tasmania. COMPLETE!I swam in the Dee Lagoon. It was lagoon-y.

#12 – Scrapbooking. My scrapbook is coming together very slowly but surely. I have managed to lose all of the photos that I scanned, a minor setback. In the meantime I am cutting and pasting and creating a lot of background pages. I don't think it'll make for very good consistency when I get around to putting the substance in chronological order, but who needs a theme anyway?

#13 – Cooking. Again - I need to decide what my 7 dishes are. There is such huge space between each time I make everything that I always (with the exception of schnitzel and saltimbocca) have to refer to the recipe again. However, this is still learning, and each time is a little different, and a little less daunting, depending on the context of the situation.

#14 – TV. For a moment there I thought there was a window - somebody mentioned Foxtel to me, the pay-television channels. Since we don't have this service, I forgot that there was an entirely new scope for TV hijacking out there. The tunnel suddenly gave light! Until I tried to do some research, which is when I realised the calibre of the programming meant I would need to be a 15-year-old chain smoker who got knocked up by her teacher to even get a look in.

#15 – Horseriding. Well, we took one lesson, and plan to schedule another. We may do the second lesson in lieu of the trail ride, but an overnighter is still on the cards. It will have to be May as well.

#16 – Sydney to Gong. COMPLETE.

#17 – Reunion Dinner. I think it's rude not to reply to emails, don't you? If people aren't interested in doing something, they should just say so, not ignore you completely. In the interests of giving this challenge a fair shot, I think I will need to resort to just going up to Gosford and cooking Heath some lasagne myself. We've not seen each other for maybe 3 or 4 years. That still makes it a reunion in my books.

#18 – Breakdancing. When I can afford it, I will.

#19 – The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter. COMPLETE.

#20 – Yeats. Oh crap.

#21 – Youtube. Dusker are going in to record a 'single' - although, what is a single these days - on March 19/20. After that we can make a video clip. And put it on Youtube. Oh yes...

#22 – Busking. Why is this so difficult??!

#23 – Cliff. Many of my friends are showing (healthy) skepticism at this one. For the record, if I get there and it is ridiculous, I won't do it. I'm determined to follow through with everything, but not at the expense of great injury.

#24 – Protest Song. The song is written! Now I just need to get it into a format that I can send to a website.

#25 – See Challenge 4.ii
#26 – See Challenge 4.iii

#27 – Blood. COMPLETE.

#28 – Japanese. Tokidoki, Nihongo hanashimasu!Suki desu. Soshite terebi-o mimasu. Kirei-na terebi desu. Zehi! (Translation: Sometimes, I speak Japanese! I like it. Then I watch television. It is a beautiful television. Absolutely!)

#29 – Parents. I need to talk to them more.

At this stage of the game, the newest strategy necessitates a very important factor: compromise. I'm seven months in, time-poor and actually-poor, but fortunately still enthusiasm-rich (for the most part). For example, I'm probably not going to pull off a 500-people fundraising ball. But I'm going to do the next best thing. If I don't make 52 strangers laugh, I make as many attempts as possible. That was always the point - to try to complete the tasks to the best of my ability. If I can't complete them for whatever reason, I'll have still given them all a damn good try. If this was Masterchef, they'd be telling me what a fantastic journey it has been, and George would be up and down on his toes marveling at my pannacotta, which in my case, is singing in a gospel choir. And then I use Matt Preston's cravat to wipe the tears of joy from my face. It's going to make for a surprisingly moving piece of television. Trust me.

A belated summary - End of Month 5

#1 – The Fundraising Ball. I don't want to let this beat me. But I think it is going to take up so much of my brain space to make it work, that I need to either dedicate myself to it or get a lot of other things out of the way first. I'm veering towards the latter.
#2 – The Other Fundraiser. This only partially counts I suppose, but the choir show we did raised money for Cambodian orphans. So although I didn't organise it, I was involved...
#3 – Laughing Strangers. I've not had any dedicated laughs, and this is a problem. Hopefully I will find a new job sooner rather than later and this will help across many levels.
#4 – i. Mediation. Same same.
ii. Song Per Month. I'm starting to lose track of these: August - Mallow. September - Blow On In. October - Tiny Mantis. November - Kitty, I'm A Train Wreck. Ah. So I'm one short for December. My bad. Two this month, then.
iv. 26km Coast Track. Fingers crossed for good weather. Note to self: buy camping gear. Where is an Argos when you need one?
#5 – Songs About Challenges. Similarly: August - This Song. September - Sausages. October - Ballad of a Substandard Cyclist. November... oh dear. I've got 2 in the works which should bring me up to speed. Promise.
#6 – Bathurst. No progress. Cripes, when are school holidays? Maybe Easter would be a good time for this.
#7 – Gospel. Ah, it feels good to have at least put a big fat COMPLETED stamp on something. We're on hiatus until February.
#8 – Children’s Hospital. Still haven’t learnt any kids songs. Ok, wow. I need to get organised on this one.
#9 – Harbour Walks. We've only got as far as Manly to Balmoral so far. Hmm.
#10 – Driving. I am sort of driving. More on this later.
#11 – Tasmania. The best thing about this challenge is I keep forgetting that it is happening. Everything is booked and it is VERY EXCITING.
#12 – Scrapbooking. I've been slowly compiling bits and pieces for this, but I've had trouble trying to find an appropriate scrapbook to stick it all in. I'm determined to find one this month and get the ball rolling instead of just nudging it out of the way with my foot in the hallway.
#13 – Cooking. I'm doing ok with this one, but I need to start working out what my 7 dishes are actually going to be. At the moment I'm doing a lot of experimenting but not a lot of committing to memory.
#14 – TV. Why won't you call me back, television stations? I would make excellent TV fodder! Ben thinks we may have to get around this one on semantics. The cogs are turning.
#15 – Horseriding. I'm hoping to reschedule this soon.
#16 – Sydney to Gong. COMPLETE, although I still have the ridiculous tan lines.
#17 – Reunion Dinner. I emailed Father BC again but no reply. I think if this is to work, we're going to have to do this without him.
#18 – Breakdancing. Now that its a new year, this is back on the agenda.
#19 – The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter. COMPLETE. Ben read it too. At first I wanted someone to talk to about it, but then we decided it was a bit too dire and we should leave it at that. I'd like to read it a second time though, as I have a tendancy to swim into literature, immerse myself in it, and then dry myself off and totally forget everything I just read. It's odd.
#20 – Yeats. I need to get some software for my computer. I have big ideas and no patience to put it into practise.
#21 – Youtube. It has taken too long for us to get Ellipsis, the lead 'single' from Dusker's EP, off the ground. We now need to get onto recording new stuff and we have a new lead single. On the offchance any Dusker fans are actually reading here I won't spoil the surprise about which it is. But we'll need to record this new song, and put together a new storyboard for a new video. Ugh.
#22 – Busking. This shouldn't be so hard, but I am fussy and want to play "the right songs" and learn them all without having to look at the words while I'm playing. It is becoming clear why so many buskers play Oasis songs.
#23 – Cliff. I have reservations about this, but I guess I won't really know until I see it on the Coast Walk.
#24 – Protest Song. I need to catch up on songwriting in general.
#25 – See Challenge 4.ii
#26 – See Challenge 4.iii
#27 – Blood. COMPLETE, and it left me with a ruddy great bruise. But I still want to continue doing it.
#28 – Japanese. Did I mention that learning a language is really hard?
#29 – Parents. Progress. More about this later.

Today is the last day of what has been a glorious, wonderful, relaxing and desperately-needed break. I have had to stop myself thinking about what tomorrow will bring, as I find myself having heated conversations in my head, my heart start racing; my frustration growing; my despair surfacing. It's going to be about as much fun as running barefoot across a desert of porcupines, but I am resolute that today should be about smelling the roses and stargazing, eking every last drop of joy from this time as I can.

PS. A welcome is extended to Ariella Rose who arrived at 1am yesterday, right on time. She was not already wearing clothes, as my dream had predicted, which was good news for her mother. Biggest of big loves to Carla and Jez, two of my most favourite people. New little people certainly do put things in perspective.

Summary - End of Month Four

#1 – The Fundraising Ball. *facepalm*
#2 – The Other Fundraiser. *see above*
#3 – Laughing Strangers. 16 weeks, 4 laughs. Many more moments of humiliation.
#4 – i. Mediation. It’s weird – I find that I accidentally stop doing this when I get stressed, which is probably the opposite of what I should be doing.
ii. Song Per Month. 4 months, 3 songs. Sorry. I will have to do some catching up with the posting of them too.
iv. 26km Coast Track. Provided the weather is good, we’re planning to do this the last weekend in January.
#5 – Songs About Challenges. 4 months, 3 songs. Sorry.
#6 – Bathurst. No progress.
#7 – Gospel. COMPLETE – a couple of public performances coming up in December.
#8 – Children’s Hospital. Still haven’t learnt any kids songs.
#9 – Harbour Walks. Hoping to find time to knock out a lot of this over Christmas, if the weather is bearable.
#10 – Driving. Wasting all of our savings on Crunk has put me off wanting to drive for a long time. I’m not getting in the driver’s seat until he earns my trust, which could take some time.
#11 – Tasmania. February.
#12 – Scrapbooking. Oh yeah. I forgot about this one.
#13 – Cooking. I have been cooking! So I don’t suck after all.
#14 – TV. Nae joy.
#15 – Horseriding. The lack of horseriding is Crunk’s fault. Now we can’t afford it for a little while.
#16 – Sydney to Gong. COMPLETE – amazing.
#17 – Reunion Dinner. I’ve not heard back from Father BC. I think he’s scared.
#18 – Breakdancing. *tumbleweed*
#19 – The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter. COMPLETE
#20 – Yeats. I thought about making a long legged fly out of cardboard. It lasted about 2 minutes.
#21 – Youtube. I think about this all the time, I just never get it done.
#22 – Busking. I think I’m almost ready for this.
#23 – Cliff. I guess this will happen in January at the same time as the Coast Track walk.
#24 – Protest Song. Googled some other protest songs. Most of them suck. Am determined to do better than them.
#25 – See Challenge 4.ii
#26 – See Challenge 4.iii
#27 – Blood. Scheduled for December.
#28 – Japanese. Watashi wa Pask Dee des.
#29 – Parents. This is a job for Christmas.

I’m listening to the LCD Soundsystem London sessions, Sufjan Stevens’ new record The Age of Adz, and new Briscoe demos, in one huge constant loop. It’s getting me by.

One quarter down...

Captain’s Blog, belatedly summarising on the first quarter of absurdity.

#1 – The Fundraising Ball. Ugh. I have not thought any more about this and will really have to think of a plan of attack soon if I’m to pull it together in any way that will be even mildly successful.
#2 – The Other Fundraiser. As previously mentioned, 3 fundraising events is a bit much, so unfortunately for Tracey, this one has been merged.
#3 – Laughing Strangers. 12 weeks, 2 laughs. It is a pitiful tally. I keep having lots of ideas on how to make this work, but chickening out of them. Time to grow some metaphorical balls.
#4 – i. Mediation. My consistency leaves a little to be desired, but I am definitely meditating a lot.
ii. Good Deed a Week. Did anybody else notice that I totally disregarded this challenge? My bad. This was before I realised I wasn’t going to get a full 29 challenges. Maybe I should pick this up.
iii. Song Per Month. I’ve written… 2.5 of them. Only that pesky .5 to go, and I could probably knock it on the head if I wasn’t so pedantic about the whole thing.
iv. 26km Coast Track. I think we’re going to do this in late January.
#5 – Songs About Challenges. I’ve written… 2.5 of them. But the lyrics are good.
#6 – Bathurst. I contacted that guy, but never heard back. I should try harder.
#7 – Gospel. Finally, a challenge I can claim to have actually advanced on! I’ve been accepted as a member of the choir and are attending rehearsals every week.
#8 – Children’s Hospital. Before I delve too far into this one I need to learn some children’s songs.
#9 – Harbour Walks. I’m really lagging on this one. I went to buy ‘sensible walking shoes’ and came back with some Adidas Shelltoes. Hmm.
#10 – Driving. I’ve only had 4 lessons, but we did purchase a car. Unfortunately it doesn’t like us very much and I am scared to get in it, but I’m hoping this will pass.
#11 – Tasmania. All booked in for the first weekend in February… although now I think of it we should maybe book some accommodation.
#12 – Scrapbooking. I pressed some flowers. That’s about all the progress I’ve made on this one this month.
#13 – Cooking. I’ve been dabbling in the kitchen every now and then. Schnitzel is next on my list.
#14 – TV. Why hasn’t anybody called me? Note to self: register for Letters & Numbers.
#15 – Horseriding. This update requires an entirely separate post.
#16 – Sydney to Gong. The ride is only 13 days away. I am freaking out.
#17 – Reunion Dinner. I tracked down the old parish priest and I must get back in touch and see if we can lock in a date. Wow.
#18 – Breakdancing. Matt & Cassie threatened to change their challenge, but it’s too late now. I will deal with this one next year.
#19 – The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter. Indeed it is. I finished the book, and went through the emotional ringer getting there too. What a story.
#20 – Yeats. No progress.
#21 – Youtube. Same old, same old.
#22 – Busking. I have got a couple of songs under my belt now, but not yet a full repertoire.
#23 – Cliff. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about this one. Apparently I have to jump off a cliff. A specific one, into water. You’re not supposed to, but people do it all the time, so they say. If your friend told you to go jump off a cliff, would you do it? I guess I have to…
#24 - #29 – This also requires a separate post: Friend Fail.

The first time I did a monthly summary, it made me feel a lot better about my overall progression with the whole thing, and got me gee’d up and excited about it… I must admit, it’s not working quite so well any more… bring on November…?

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

To summarise...

It’s the 22nd today, so here’s my end of month summary:

#1 – I had an idea (or rather, Bart had an idea) and I was very excited about it for about a week. But nobody called me back, nothing really happened except for a couple of kind people saying they would donate their time to it, but without the 2 major components of a venue to hold the ball and a drawcard to get people there, it sort of fell on its ass. I should have pushed it more. I need to clear my head and start from scratch on it.
#2 – I think I will have to merge the second fundraiser into the other 2 fundraisers. Three fundraisers is just a bit silly.
#3 - I have made a total of 1 person laugh so far. I can’t believe I’m 7 weeks behind. I need to work up a game plan on this.
#4 – I fell off the wagon for a while there, but I am still meditating most days. I need to try and be stricter with this. Also, I have written (or at least, co-written) 2 songs as per the required 1 song per month – different from the songs-about-challenges songs. I will have to post some rough demos of them as proof.
#5 - I have completed the required 2 songs of my 12 songs-about-challenges.
#6 – Haven’t thought about this Bathurst gig since last month. Jason sent me some contacts that I forgot to contact. Gotta get back on it.
#7 – No further progress with the gospel choir. I’m hoping they will get in touch again regarding the Godspell performance. Perhaps it’s time to give them a nudge.
#8 - Heather has confirmed that the children’s hospital is a sufficient challenge. I’ve made some very basic enquiries as to the logistics of such a thing and also what passes for kid’s entertainment these days. My greatest fear is of being in a room full of sick kids who are crying and bored and not finding me funny or joining in at all. Fortunately I know a lot of school teachers that I can milk this kind of information from.
#9 - I haven’t done any more harbour walks which is a bit shameful really. I’m going to endeavour to purchase some “sensible walking shoes” next week.
#10 – I’ve had 3 driving lessons so far with another one booked for Saturday. I’m not sure what’ll happen at the end of the 5 lessons – I guess I just wait until I can afford another 5 lessons…
#11 – We’ve booked flights to Tasmania for February 4th next year. Exciting.
#12 - I bought a book on scrapbooking that funnily enough, I found pretty inspiring. I’ve scanned a bunch of photos and childhood stuff and just need to get myself all crafted up and get going.
#13 – I’ve been sporadically cooking, mostly with something resembling a recipe, but it is all good for my kitchen confidence. I should really start repeating some of the recipes to see if I can do it all on my own.
#14 – No word from the world of television requesting my presence. The extended deadline for The Amazing Race just passed (after we submitted a shonky application) so we’re expecting a call for the next round of auditions any day now…
#15 – Our first horseriding lesson is booked for October 23rd at Glenworth Valley.
#16 – Sydney to Gong bike ride is all organised. All I have to do now is get better at actually cycling.
#17 – No progress on the reunion dinner. Must call Heath.
#18 – No progress on the breakdancing.
#19 – I am about halfway through ‘The Heart is a Lonely Hunter' now. I’m starting to feel like I know the characters and am really enjoying McCullers’ writing style.
#20 – I’ve decided to do a Yeats multi media project rather than join a theatre group. I haven’t actually got further than the decision, but I have some ideas floating about in my head.
#21 – It’s a bit crap that I’ve made no progress on making a video clip in a whole month. I’m going to research camera hire and maybe contact some film students to see if they’ll do us a favour.
#22 – I’ve started learning some covers for my busking challenge. Some songs are immediately pleasing to play. Others are awkward. Once I’ve got a good repertoire under my belt I’ll start planning where to punish passers-by with my so-called talent.
#23 - #29 - I’ve still not heard a word, and these guys are going to forfeit their right to be involved in exactly one month from now.

Pie chart... mmmm

Because I have nothing of substance to say today, I have decided to draw you a pie chart of my challenges according to what kind of time and/or effort is required of them.

My categories are:
1) Postcard not received. Self explanatory (you slack so-and-sos).

2) One off task. A slightly misleading title, as this doesn't necessarily mean that I can just do it in one go. The bike ride is a good example of this: the task itself, being a charity ride from Sydney to Wollongong, will only take a few hours. But I still had to register, do the fundraising, do enough training that I don't collapse in a heap before I've even made it to Cooks River... you get the gist.

3) Ongoing - small tasks. This means things like the meditation, the songwriting and the make-people-laugh-ing. Small, but somehow still big.

4) Ongoing - commitment to task. This means the task involves a dedicated length of time to complete, such as joining a choir or learning to breakdance. It's not something I can just knock out in a weekend, I have to make the effort to work at this over weeks or months...

5) Requires multiple weekends. Things like walking around Sydney Harbour will take a while, but I'm not restricted to a specific time frame as I would be if I was attending classes or something. The horseriding looks like it will take 3 weekends, for example.

6) Gradual process. Like learning to drive, or learning to cook.

7) HELP! The stuff that I couldn't fit in any of those other categories and can't figure out how to achieve (So basically, the fundraising ball).

I'm glad they're spread out like this, because it has been almost a full month since I started and while I'm definitely making progress, I can't say I've actually completed any one thing yet. The small ongoings will technically never have a completion date, I just have to continue them for the whole year. The large ongoings I'll have to space out. The one offs I just need to lock in dates for, and I've just got to chip away at everything else.

End of month summary (corresponding to challenges):
#1 - Brain. Stalling.
#2 - Not sure what to do about this one.
#3 - I am crap at making strangers laugh. But I'm working on it.
#4 - I am meditating (almost) every day with increasing success.
#5 - I have completed Song 1 of my 12 months worth of songs-about-challenges (to be posted over the weekend depending on severity of my headcold)
#6 - Did some basic research on gig opportunities in Bathurst (the area that Jason now lives with his family) AND saw them for the first time in about 8 years when they happened to be passing through Sydney.
#7 - Looked into local gospel choirs. Many don't take newcomers but one looked particularly good, and said they would be recruiting for a musical later in the year. BAM! That's 2 of Ros's suggested challenges in one hit. Just waiting for the callback...
#8 - Heather's postcard actually asked to volunteer at the school, but I have asked permission to take up the second challenge, which is to sing at a hospital. I would actually love to help a kinder reading group but the fact is I have a 9 to 5 office job which may not be so supportive of me taking a few hours off every week to read to five year olds. Heather has yet to respond...
#9 - I really am going to do the Manly to Spit walk this weekend.
#10 - My first driving lesson is next Wednesday.
#11 - We have negotiated the date for Tasmania and it currently looks like the first weekend in February 2011. We want it to be hot enough to jump into the lagoon. However we're on the lookout for cheap flights and we'll go when it is opportunistic for us to do so.
#12 - I am going back to my parents' home in September and plan to raid their photo collection then. Since they live in the country and there isn't much to do there, I thought that would be a great place to start scrapbooking.
#13 - I have cooked one mostly-successful meal so far, sans recipe. I'm also cooking dinner for Carla & Jeremy next Friday, but am undecided on what will be on the menu yet.
#14 - Have nervously applied for numerous game shows.
#15 - Haven't set aside a time for horseriding, but it is on the cards.
#16 - Have both registered and hit my minimum donation target for the Sydney to Gong bike ride. Wowee zowee!
#17 - I am trying to find out exactly who was at this mysterious dinner. I've contacted a couple of people I know were there. They were surprisingly accommodating. It's so crazy it might just work.
#18 - I asked Cassie if she would join me in my breakdancing adventures. She has ignored my requests...
#19 - Purchased 'The Heart is a Lonely Hunter' and am a couple of chapters into it. I like John Singer. He's a good guy.
#20 - Haven't even looked into local theatre groups... may end up taking the multi-media option due to time and energy restraints.
#21 - I'm trying to negotiate a film crew so my band can make a video clip. We've already written and storyboarded the whole thing, we just need someone to make it real...
#22 - Haven't thought too much about busking, except that I may need a licence for certain cities. And that I may need to learn a few Oasis songs.
#23 - #29 are empty boxes.

Ok, well for a short post this has become exceptionally long. Still, seeing it all written out like that makes me feel a little less like a loser. F*ck the what! (a joke only Bart will understand)
